0830h (08:30am): At the start of your exciting 4-day Jungle Adventure from Manaus, you will be picked up from your hotel reception and driven in a car to the docks at Manaus.
0900h (09:00am): Accompanied by your English-speaking guide, you will board a motor boat for your cruise to Lake Janauary. As you slip along, look out for caimans (alligators) in the water. Keep binoculars ready to check out the different birds including kingfishers, herons, egrets and parrots.
After about an hour and a half you reach the extraordinary'meeting of the waters’. Here, the milky waters of the Solimões River meet the black waters of the Rio Negro and flow side by side for about 6 miles without intermingling.
1100h (11:00am):At Lake Janauary, you'll transfer into motorized canoes, to journey deeper into narrow overgrown channels. See the enormous Amazonian water lily, which has leaves up to 2m (6.5ft) in diameter.
You may also see playful river dolphins. There are two types – the gray and the rare pink dolphin.
1300h (01:00pm):You will have a fish lunch with fruit juices (a vegetarian option will be available). Afterwards, you have the chance to go fishing for the notorious piranhas. Piranhas may be small but their teeth are very sharp and they bite like crazy!
By late afternoon, you’ll be at the lodge where you spend the night and can enjoy the drama of the Amazon sunset.
1730h (05:30pm):You will have dinner, including meat, chicken or fish and vegetarian options. When it’s dark, your guide will take you out to look for caimans (alligators).
You will spend the night in Amazing Camping on the Rio Negro River. The lodge is a floating platform anchored a few yards from the river bank. You have a choice of a bed in a room shared with one other person or you can opt to sleep in a hammock in true explorer style.
0530h (05:30pm): You will be woken early and taken on a boat trip to see the sunrise and the jungle coming to life. This is the best time to observe the birds.
0800h (08:00am): You return to the lodge for breakfast, including bread, juice, cheese, fruits, and coffee.
0900h (09:00am): Embark on a 3-hour jungle expedition on foot. Among wild creatures you might see are
peccaries, monkeys, macaws, and capybaras. Who knows – you may even meet an anaconda!
1200h (12 noon):You return to the lodge for lunch (meat chicken or fish and vegetarian options).
1500h (03:00pm): Set out on an exciting overnight expedition.
1830h (06:30pm): After dark you’ll take a night-time jungle walk and a 2-hour canoe trip – an experience full of surprises. You’ll hear jungle frogs and nocturnal birds, watch bulldog bats fishing, go spear-fishing, hunt for caimans and much more.
You will have dinner and spend the night in a jungle camp. Your hammock will be strung between trees under the stars and covered with a mosquito net. Go to sleep under the stars, listening to the sounds of the forest.
0800h (08:00am): After your night adventure, you return to the lodge for breakfast. Enjoy your delicious meal of bread, cheese, fruit and coffee.
0900h (09:00am): Board a canoe to visit a jungle village and spend approx. 3 hours for a unique experience.
You will meet the local people – the 'caboclos' – who still live in a similar style to the way their Indian ancestors did. There is also a chance of seeing plenty of wildlife – such as sloths, monkeys, macaws and other birdlife and maybe even a tarantula or two!
1200h (12 noon): You will return to the lodge for lunch and, when the meal is finished, you will set off on a 2-hour canoeing expedition.
Dinnerwill be back at the Amazing Camping Lodge. You will also spend the night here.
0800h (08:00am): Have breakfast before you set out for the day.
0900h (09:00am): After breakfast, travel by boat to meet an indigenous family. Find out about the way they live. Learn how they use bark, leaves, roots and fruits from the jungle to fulfill various needs.
Your visit to the indigenous family takes about 3 hours. During this time you will have the opportunity to purchase some local handicrafts.
1200h (12 noon): You will return to the Amazing Camping Lodge for lunch. Afterwards you board your boat for the trip back to Manaus, a journey of about 4 hours.
A vehicle will pick you up from the docks at Manaus and drop you off back at your hotel.
