0830h (08:30am): At the start of your exciting 2-day Good Morning Amazon Tour from Manaus, you will be picked up from your hotel reception and driven to the docks at Manaus.
0900h (09:00am):Accompanied by your English-speaking guide, you will board your motor boat for your cruise to Lake Janauary. As you slip along, look out for caimans (alligators) in the water. Keep binoculars ready to check out the different birds including kingfishers, herons, egrets and parrots.
After about an hour and a half you should reach the 'meeting of the waters. This extraordinary phenomenon is where the milky-coffee colored waters of the Solimões River meet the black-coffee colored Rio Negro waters and flow side by side for about 6 miles without intermingling.
1100h (11:00am): At Lake Janauary, you'll transfer into motorizedcanoes, to journey deeper into narrow overgrown channels. You’ll see the enormous Amazonian water-lilies, which have floating leaves up to 2m (6.5ft) in diameter.
You may also see the playful river dolphins. There are two types – the gray and the rare pink dolphin.
1300h (01:00pm): You will have a fish lunch (with a vegetarian option), and the chance to go fishing for the notorious piranhas. Piranhas may be small but their teeth are sharp and they bite like crazy!
1730h (05:30pm):After mastering piranha fishing, you can watch the sun go down over the river and have dinner at the lodge where you will spend the night. This will include meat, chicken or fish or chicken and vegetarian options. When it’s dark, your guide will take you out to look for caiman (alligators). Armed only with a torch, it’s quite easy to catch caiman, as long as they are small!
Spend the night in Amazing Camping on the Rio Negro River. The lodge is a floating platform firmly anchored a few yards from the river bank. You have a choice of a bed in a room shared with one other person or you can opt to sleep in a hammock in true explorer style.
0530h (05:30am):You will be woken early and will take a boat trip to see the sun rise and the jungle coming to life. This is the best time for birds, so take your binoculars.
0800h (08:00am):You will return to the lodge for breakfast, which will include bread, juice, cheese, fruits and coffee.
0900h (09:00am): Embark on a 3-hour jungle expedition on foot. Wildlife you might see includes peccaries, monkeys, macaws, and capybaras. Who knows – you may even meet an anaconda!
Your guide can tell you about the different jungle plants and trees and how the Indians use them for food, hunting and traditional medicine.
1400h (02:00pm):After your walk, you’ll go back to the lodge for lunch before starting the return journey. The lodge is about 60 km from Manaus and you will reach the city in the late afternoon.
In Manaus, you will be met by a vehicle that will drop you off back at your hotel.
