You will be picked up from your hotel and taken in a private vehicle on a city sightseeing tour of Santa Cruz, the largest city in Bolivia. A private English-speaking guide will accompany you on this tour.
On this tour you will visit:
The Cathedral: Founded in 1605, the Cathedral overlooks the Plaza 24 de Septiembre and serves as the city’s most iconic sight. It is remarkable for its silver and wooden vaults covered by beautiful pictorial decorations.
Museum of Sacred Art: The cathedral’s air-conditioned museum has a collection of religious icons and artifacts. There are also gold and silver relics from the Jesuit Guarayos missions. The most interesting exhibit is the world’s smallest book (thumbnail-sized) containing the Lord’s Prayer in several languages.
Central Square (Plaza 24 de Septiembre): Santa Cruz’s main plaza is a charming place to just stroll around and watching sloths hanging in the tall trees.
House of Culture: Those interested in learning more about Bolivia can visit this place. It offers lectures, theater works, concerts, movies, videos, courses and workshops, painting exhibitions, photographs and sculpture. It also has a library specialized in regional publications.
San Roque Church: It is an architectonic temple built in the style of the 19th century; it has wood framework and external eaves.
Contemporary Art Museum: This museum exhibits contemporary art by local and national artists and changes its showings on a regular basis.
Ethno-folkloric Museum: This tiny museum contains pieces that reflect Eastern Bolivia’s culture, population and language groups, and folklore collected from small towns and rural areas throughout the fifteen provinces of the Department of Santa Cruz such as baskets, woven items, masks, musical instruments, typical dress, hunting and fishing implements, and others.
The handicraft centre of Arte Campo: This is the best place to pick up local handicrafts. Arte Campo provides an outlet for the work of 1000 rural women who sell their wares ranging from leatherwork, hammocks, weavings and beautiful lampshades made from natural materials.
At the end of the tour, you will be dropped back at your hotel in Santa Cruz.
