Overview

Enter the weird and wonderful world of one of the most famous modern artists to date, Salvador Dali, and get up, close and personal with his masterpieces in the Dali Theatre Museum of Figueres, designed by Dali himself.

In the 1960’s, Salvador Dali decided to construct his own museum inside the ruins of the old Municipal Theatre of Figueres, previously destroyed in the Civil War. Every nook and cranny of the building represents the playful, witty, reverent, unexpected and surreal style that Dali was known for. With an expert guide in tow, you will see the widest range of works by Dali, spanning his entire artistic career, from his early paintings to his surrealist creations all the way to his final works from last years of his life.

Travel in an AVE high-speed train from Barcelona to Figueres and back, and get engrossed in the legacy of this artistic genius, famous for questioning conventional norms and adopting his own signature style. Dali’s legacy today is far beyond anything one could have imagined.

Skip-the-line and guided visit in the Dali Theatre Museum

Upon arrival, you’ll be awe-struck by the exterior of the Dali Theatre Museum, famed as the largest surrealist art object in the world. The design of the museum itself encapsulates Dali’s unique style, with objects like the golden statue, eggs, and spherical atoms embedded within the design showing his artistic finesse. The building’s red façade is studded with virtual bread rolls, which Dali referred to as “goosebumps ruffling the building’s skin”.

At the Dali Theatre Museum, you will not waste any time standing in long entrance queues, with skip-the-line access providing direct entry to the museum.

You’ll be dazzled and amazed looking at each and every corner of the museum that exudes Dali’s absurd oeuvre. The guide will show you the artworks and take you through an installation that offers the chance to get inside the artist’s captivating and unique world.

See Dali’s astonishing paintings and installations like the Car Naval. Rainy Taxi, The Great Masturbator, The Spectre of Sex-Appeal, Self Portrait with Grilled Bacon, Gala Nude looking at the Sea which, from 18 metres away, appears to be Abraham Lincoln’s face, and the central panel of the Wind Palace Ceiling that Dali created to commemorate his legacy.

You will also see one of Salvador Dali’s most famous installations, Face of Mae West which Dali wanted to be perceived as “a dream that can also be used as a living room.” The museum also houses the mausoleum where Salvador Dali was buried after his death in January 1989.

At the end of the tour, your guide will leave you at the museum after which you may spend some leisure time delving more into Dali’s works.
