For your private Great Ocean Road Helicopter Flight from Melbourne, you will be picked up from your Melbourne hotel in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle and driven to Essendon Airport, a journey of about 20 minutes. An alternative pick-up location is available at Russel Street Extension, near Federation Square, Melbourne. Or, if you prefer, you can drive to the airport in your own vehicle.
In the Private Lounge at the airport your pilot will give you a pre-flight 15- 20 minute briefing (in English) before you board the helicopter and take your window seat.
Your 90-minute outbound flight follows the entire Great Ocean Road coastline until the Otway Ranges. This is a truly spectacular route over one of the world's most breathtaking coastal regions. You will look down on huge cliffs, raging surf, tranquil bays, and lush rainforests.
You will land next to the Twelve Apostles Visitor Centre at the Edge Heli-Pad. The Twelve Apostles are huge rock stacks that rise dramatically from the Southern Ocean and are the main feature of the Port Campbell National Park.
You have 1 hour and 20 minutes on the ground at Twelve Apostles to spend at leisure. Walk along the boardwalk, drink in the ocean views and photograph the rugged scenery from the various viewing platforms.
Then enjoy a light picnic lunch of assorted Japanese Nori rolls, (with crispy chicken, spicy prawn and tuna mayonaise) plus a sparkling Australian wine, local beer, and various soft drinks.
Re-boarding your helicopter, you will take a scenic flight round the Twelve Apostles and the Loch Ard gorge. Keep the camera ready to capture superb shots of the craggy arches, islands and unique rock formations of this fabulous coast.
You will then head inland and touch down at Essendon Airport after about 70 minutes.
Back on the ground, you will board a vehicle for the return to your hotel (or to Russel Street Extension if you prefer).
