Activity Overview

Visit the World Heritage-listed Kakadu National Park and Litchfield National Park and see thundering waterfalls, breathtaking flora and fauna, 50,000-year-old rock art sites and more than 5000 sacred Aboriginal sites.

The 1,500 square kilometre Litchfield National Park encloses much of the spectacular Tabletop Range, which is a wide sandstone plateau mostly surrounded by cliffs. On this tour, you’ll get the chance to see the varied and fascinating topography of Australia’s Northern Territory and enjoy a cruise on the beautiful Mary River.

Itinerary

Day 1: Darwin- Litchfield National Park -Mary River Wetlands

You will be picked up from your hotel in Darwin and will travel in a 4 WD vehicle, first to the Litchfield National Park. Your driver is your guide on this tour. See the beautiful waterfalls at the park before you proceed to the Mary River Wetlands home to a vast array of bird life.

Check in at the Point Stuart Wilderness Lodge, located in the heart of the beautiful Mary River Wetlands. The lodge has 24 rooms in four separate blocks surrounded by shady lawn areas and wildlife including the large population of Agile Wallabies. The rooms are air-conditioned with a private bathroom. All rooms are in close proximity to the pool, bar and bistro.

Have lunch at the lodge and then go on a private river cruise. Your cruise will depart from Coroboree Billabong on the Mary River and will be of approximately one and a half hours duration. Keep an eye out for salt-water crocodiles which may be lurking in the water. The wetlands are also home to the wild buffalo and wallabies at the waters edge and a variety of birds too.

Return to your lodge for dinner and to spend the night.

Day 2: Mary River-Kakadu National Park

After breakfast, accompanied by your English-speaking guide proceed to Ubirr in your 4WD. Ubirr is famous for its ancient Aboriginal rock art and picturesque views. Climb on top of a rocky look-out point and see the fabulous Nardab floodplain spread out below.

Continue to the permanent camp within Kakadu National Park. The camps have comfortable tents with shared washroom facilities. The tents have real beds and clean bed linen is provided.

Continue to Maguk (Barramundi Gorge) for a hike and enjoy the scenic beauty of the place. There will be a break where you will enjoy your packed lunch. Later, you can refresh yourself by taking a dip in the plunge pool nearby.

Return to the camp for dinner and to spend the night.

Day 3: Kakadu-Darwin

After breakfast, continue in your 4WD to Jim Jim Falls . Once you arrive there, you will hike to the base of the falls before continuing to the Twin Falls from where you will join the National Park-operated boat and boardwalk experience up the stunning gorge to the waterfall and sandy bank.

After lunch, you will travel to Darwin where you will be dropped off at your hotel where the tour ends.
