Spend two magical days touring Australia's largest national park, the Kakadu National Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Itinerary

Day 1: Darwin - Kakadu National Park

You will be picked up from your hotel in Darwin and will travel in a coach to Kakadu National Park a UNESCO World Heritage Site that has a fascinating diversity of wildlife, topography and rock art sites.

Check into your hotel, the Kakadu Lodge (budget), Aurora Kakadu (standard) or the Gagudju Crocodile Holiday Inn (first class).

This morning visit the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre to gain an insight into the cultural and historical significance the park holds for its traditional owners, the Aborigines. See samples of rock art and other displays that will familiarize you with the rich history and culture of the Aborigines.

Proceed to the departure point and board a boat to enjoy a guided boat cruise on Yellow Water Billabong , a famous wetland area in Kakadu which is home to an amazing variety of wildlife. Keep an eye out for saltwater crocodiles, birds and beautiful water lilies.

Return to your hotel for lunch.

After lunch, proceed to the famous Nourlangie Rock art site and view the ancient galleries of Aboriginal x-ray style rock art. Many of these are thousands of years old.

Return to your hotel for dinner (payable direct) and to spend the night.

Day 2: Ubirr Art Site, East Alligator River Cruise

After breakfast, you will have the time and opportunity to enjoy a flight tour over the Arnhem Land Escarpment (payable direct) near the Park. The area is home to the Aborigines and is famous for rock art sites, its scenic beauty and Aborigine settlements.

Later board the coach and travel to the Bowali Visitor Centre to understand more about the history and culture of this land and its inhabitants, the Aborigines. See samples of rock art, and you may visit the resource centre which has an impressive collection of reference books. Then travel to Ubirr to see superbly preserved Aboriginal rock art. Located on the Arnhem Land escarpment, Ubirr is a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its anthropological and archaeological value.

Continue to the starting point of another cruise, the famous Guluyambi Cruise on the East Alligator River. You will be accompanied by an English-speaking Aborigine guide and as you glide along the tranquil waters of the river, listen to your guide tell you more about the flora, fauna, Aboriginal mythology and history of the region. You may have the opportunity to stop and take a short walk on Arnhem Land (conditions permitting).

After the cruise, board your coach and proceed to Window on the Wetlands Visitor Centre on top of Beatrice Hill for a glass of complimentary wine. Enjoy panoramic views of the floodplains and then continue to Darwin in your coach. Upon reaching Darwin, you will be dropped off at your hotel where the tour ends.
