This tour will take you to Kakadu National Park which is Australia’s largest national park. The park offers great ecological and biological diversity which explains why it is so popular with visitors. About one third of Australia's bird species are represented in the Kakadu National Park. There are at least 60 species of birds including Whistling ducks and Magpie geese.

The Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre and the the Bowali Visitor Centre are great places to understand the region’s rich culture. You can see fascinating Aboriginal art at Ubirr and Nourlangie Rock and also enjoy a cruise in the East Alligator River which forms the border between Kakadu National Park and Arnhem Land. Also included in this tour is a memorable cruise between the sheer and brilliantly colored sandstone walls of majestic Katherine Gorge.

Itinerary

Day 1: Darwin - Kakadu

You will be picked up from your hotel and will travel in an air-conditioned vehicle accompanied by a guide (as per your choice) towards Kakadu National Park. This is northern Australia’s most popular park and has a wide variety of flora and fauna.

You will then be taken to the departure point to board a boat for the famous crocodile spotting cruise. This region is famous for salt water crocodiles. Listen to your guide tell you more about the crocodiles and the flora and fauna found here.

After the cruise, visit the Bark Hut Inn for lunch.

After lunch you will be taken to the famous Aboriginal Rock Art site of Ubirr. See the fascinating x-ray style drawings of animals and plants among others and learn more about Aborigine beliefs and customs from your guide.

Check into the permanent campsite at Kakadu. The camps have comfortable tents with shared washroom facilities. The tents have real beds and clean bed linen is provided.

Enjoy dinner and spend the night at the camp. Day 2: Kakadu - Nitmiluk National Park (Katherine Gorge)

After breakfast, you will be taken to the Barramundi Gorge in the dry season and Baraolba Springs or Gunlom Falls when Barramundi Gorge is inaccessible. You may enjoy a swim in the cool water here or explore this picturesque region on foot.

There will be a break for lunch at a suitable place and time.

After lunch, travel south out of the park into the historic mining area of Pine Creek. On the way stop at Edith Falls for a refreshing swim. You will then travel to the historic Springvale Homestead to spend the night. You will stay in a camp. Springvale Homestead was built in the 1880s and is the oldest standing homestead in the Northern Territory. It offers a range of accommodation, a licensed bistro and kiosk, live entertainment, a swimming pool and waterslide, all in a natural parkland setting. You will stay in a camp here. The camps are comfortable and have shared washroom facilities. There is a community kitchen.

Enjoy dinner and spend the night in your camp. Day 3: Katherine - Darwin

After an early breakfast, travel to the majestic Katherine Gorge. Choose between a two hour cruise or a canoeing adventure. You may also swim in the water here: it is cool and clear. The scenery is spectacular.

After lunch you will travel back to Darwin in the air-conditioned coach. You will be dropped off to your hotel where the tour ends.

Please note there are no double beds. Only twin bedding is available.
Single person travelling will have sole use of the tent.
