You will be picked up from your hotel/accommodation and will travel in an air-conditioned vehicle to the Freshwater Station which is the departure point for the train.
Travel to Kuranda aboard the Kuranda Scenic Rail, that runs from Cairns to Kuranda. This is one of the most beautiful train routes in Australia.
As the train chugs up the hill to the Kuranda, it will cross many hand-hewn tunnels and bridges giving you an excellent view of the rainforest. You will see many waterfalls such as Barron Falls and Stoney Creek Falls on the way to Kuranda. Both are very picturesque – remember to take pictures here!
After covering a distance of about 35 kilometers which takes about 90 minutes, the train will then stop at Kuranda Station where you will disembark. You will then have time at leisure to explore Kuranda. This mountain retreat has historic buildings that now house restaurants, bars and cafes. Stroll through the ‘heritage market’ that operates daily and shop for souvenirs: Aboriginal artifacts and other handcrafted goods found here are particularly beautiful.
Enjoy lunch in one of the restaurants (payable direct) before proceeding to explore Kuranda further.
You may visit the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary, Birdworld or the Kuranda Koala Gardens (all payable direct). See a variety of amazingly beautiful butterflies and animals and marvel at the natural beauty that this region is so rich in.
You will then proceed to the departure point to board the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway for the world’s most beautiful rainforest experience. As the skyrail glides over a canopy of trees, see the variety of foliage present here. There will be two stops enroute where you may choose to walk through the rainforest.
The skyrail will drop you at Caravonica Lake from where you will be picked up and taken back to your hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle.
Your tour ends at the hotel.
