Activity Overview

Sit back, relax and revel in the unspoilt beauty of the Great Barrier Reef on this Australian vacation. A short flight will take you to a Sandy Cay nested in the Great Barrier Reef, a UNESCO World Heritage site which is incredibly beautiful. Sand Cays are formed when wave and tidal action deposit coral rubble and sand onto reef flats. They look like jewels surrounded by beautiful blue water.

Away from the travails of the urban world, this secluded Sandy Cay is your ultimate getaway. Take a refreshing dip in the ocean or snorkel with shoals of colourful tropical fish. This is a wonderful way to observe the marine flora of the underwater world. If you’re looking forward to a relaxing day, just sit under the shade of bright beach umbrellas sipping Australian wine!

On this tour enjoy what is characteristically Australian: beautiful beaches, exotic wine and a laid-back pace of life.

Itinerary

You will be picked up from your hotel in Cairns or Northern Beaches and will travel in an air-conditioned vehicle to Cairns Seaplane Pontoon near Cairns Marlin Jetty and Marina. Board the airplane and a 15-minute flight will take you to Sandy Cay in the Great Barrier Reef.

Disembark and explore this beautiful area which is listed as a World Heritage Site. Sit under a beach umbrella and savour authentic Australian wine or swim in the clear blue water. You also have the opportunity to snorkel and observe the fascinating colourful life that thrives underwater (snorkelling equipment provided).

If you’d like, you could enjoy a soft drink or tea and munch on some nibbles.

After some time, you will board the airplane and fly back to the Cairns Seaplane Pontoon from where you will be taken back to your hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle. The tour ends at your hotel.
