This tour to a working cattle station will show you the reality behind the romance of raising stock in the immense and hostile terrain of Australia's red heart.

You will visit the first Homestead and other historic buildings raised by the early pioneers and sense the enormity of the challenges facing the first European settlers in this hostile territory.

Itinerary

You will be picked up from your hotel and travel 25 km in an air-conditioned coach to Bond Springs Cattle station, a 1515sq km cattle grazing property. You will be accompanied by an English-speaking guide.

You will tour the working cattle station and its historic buildings, gaining an insight into the truth behind the romantic image of Outback life.

Trip highlights include:

• View heritage-listed pioneers' buildings, including the first Homestead, dating back to 1876, an old ‘School of the Air’ Classroom, blacksmith's shop and leather room.

• Learn all about the cattle industry in Australia's harsh interior.

• Appreciate the hardships faced by early settlers as they battled heat, drought and isolation to establish themselves in this harsh and beautiful land.

You will return to Alice Springs and will be dropped off at your hotel.
