This valley surpasses all others with respect to its scenic beauty.

The ‘Whispering Wall’ near Williamstown will leave you astounded with its acoustic abilities to pick up whispers 140 metres away. Lying on the southwest sect of Barossa Valley is the Orlando Winery in Rowland Flat town, one of the oldest and quintessential wine producers of this region. A knock on the Cellar Door of these wineries will complete your wine experience in South Australia.

Itinerary

You will be picked up from your hotel in Adelaide and begin a personally escorted journey to the beautiful Barossa Valley.

You travel through the scenic Torrens Gorge to the Barossa Valley. The Torrens Gorge is a natural chasm carved out of the Adelaide Hills by the River Torrens. If time permits a stop may be made at the Lyndoch bakery to taste the best of the fine German pastries.

Travel over the Jacobs Creek for your first tasting of the fine wines at the Peter Lehmann winery. Visit Torbreck wine cellars, a small winery with rustic charm, making wines in traditional Barossa methods.

Stop for a stroll in the town of Tanunda with time to discover the small shops, many of which specialise in crafts made by the locals. Originally inhabited by German settlers, the German influence is strongly evident here.

Before lunch take the picturesque drive up to Menglers Hill for an unsurpassed view over the entire Valley. Continue into historic Angaston - the more English of the villages in the Barossa. Take time to visit the South Australian Company Store specializing in fine locally made products or visit the local cheesemaker.

Lunch will be alfresco under the vines or at Vintners restaurant just out of Angaston.

The next stop is the Henschkes winery in Keyneton. This fifth generation German winery produces outstanding wines that incorporate the best of old world and state of the art wine-making. Alternatively, you could visit the historic Yalumba, the biggest family run winery in Australia. If time permits visit small boutique producers such as Charles Melton or Turkey Flat.

The tour will continue through the picturesque villages of Hills as you travel to Hahndorf, the German village and taste the fine wines produced by Hahandorf Hill winery.

At the end of the tour, you will be dropped back at your hotel in Adelaide.
