  • Overview & Itinerary

While the Acropolis looks commanding during the day, it is at night that it gleams like a white jewel on the hillside of Athens. This night photography tour of Athens, one of the most important ancient cities of the world, is an experience that will thrill the senses. The delightful village of Plaka, with its numerous cafes and jewellery stores, nestles right in the shadow of the Acropolis.

This specially designed photography tour will help you:
    • Discover and experience a city through the eyes of a local photographer.
    • Learn to have a sharper observation of interesting details about a place and its people, which might easily be overlooked.
    • To have a more interesting experience and involvement when visiting a city.
    • Let each photograph speak its own story.

Capture some of Athens’ most enduring landmarks on camera and preserve magical memories of this holiday.

The tour starts from Thisio Station - Upper Exit.

Starting at the pedestrian area of Apostolou Pavlou street, which unites the major archaeological sites of Athens, this photography tour will follow in the steps of Hadrian to see where he attended the inauguration of the Temple of Olympian Zeus.

Wind your way past Roman ruins, mosques, temples and the homes of the Greek Gods of Olympus.

En route you will see the 3000 year old Theatre of Dionysus Eleuthereus which premiered the plays of Sophocles and Euripides and that are still in use today.

You will have superb vantage points from the sacred Hill of Philopappou (Hills of the Muses) to photograph the Acropolis.

Proceed towards the Plaka, a village in the shadow of the Acropolis and the oldest section of Athens. It is now an area of restaurants, jewellery stores, tourist shops, and cafes. Stroll past the magically-lit restaurants scattered all over the hillside.

Your photographer-cum-guide will teach you how to work with light and shadows, colour and forms in a creative way, how to use photographic techniques to advantage and how to be ready to take great photos any time you go out with your camera.

The tour ends at Monastiraki Station.
