Many of the pieces you’ll see in the Van Gogh Museum were unsold and inherited by Vincent’s brother, Theo. Theo died 6 months after Vincent and the paintings then fell to Theo’s wife, Johanna. After her death, her son inherited these works. Later, the works of art were displayed at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam for many years.
