Moscow Metro Tour - Overview

Tour the Moscow Metro, one of the largest and grandest underground systems in the world. Meant to showcase Soviet Union’s achievements to Russians and visitors from abroad, the Metro was constructed during Stalin's rule to be the "people's palaces".

Moscow Metro stations are all uniquely designed with decorative elements including mosaics, statues and marble floors. The statues are mostly of everyday heroes and these, along with the depiction of scenes from the communist era, provide an interesting insight into life during Stalin’s reign.

Moscow Metro Tour - Itinerary


You will be picked up from your hotel in the city.

You will be taken to visit a number of the Metro stations, these stations, most of them built from the 1930s to 1950s, were envisioned as ''palaces of the people". Elaborately designed, they were meant to illustrate the wealth that socialism brought to the Soviet Union's workers and peasants.

The Metro stations reflect the art which flourished under Stalin’s rule. Admire the elaborate decorations, bronze sculptures, majolica panels, stainless steel columns, glittering chandeliers, stained-glass panels, murals and mosaics.

At the end of the tour, you will be returned to your hotel.
