Hogwarts, Narnia, the Shire and Alice’s Wonderland - Tour from London - Itinerary

Day 1
You will be picked up from your hotel in central London at around 0800h (8am). Travel by coach, accompanied English-speaking guide. Your first stop is the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre in the village of Great Missenden in Buckinghamshire. Here you can discover what inspired such classics as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and James and the Giant Peach.

Travel then to Oxford, home to Britain's oldest university and where the Harry Potter movies have been filmed. See the locations of the Hogwarts infirmary and library and climb the stairs of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Visit the famous dining hall of Oxford University’s Christ Church College, which was the model for Hogwarts Hall, and a museum which, among other oddities, has the shrunken heads seen on the 'Knight Bus'.

Oxford was also the setting for another magical book - Alice in Wonderland. Lewis Carroll, once a mathematics professor at Christ Church, used a lot of locations from the college in his works. Take the Alice in Wonderland Walk which will help you understand how Lewis Carroll was inspired to create the entrance to Wonderland, the white rabbit and the Mad Hatter’s tea party. Other famous children’s authors whose memorabilia can be found here are J.R.R. Tolkein of The Lord of The Rings fame, and C.S. Lewis who created the magical land of Narnia.

You will stay overnight in a village in the Cotswolds.
Day 2
Travel through the delightful Cotswolds region with its beautiful honey coloured stone houses. They are widely believed to have been the inspiration for The Shire in The Lord of The Rings. Pause your journey to meet some of Harry Potter’s feathered friends, during a flying demonstration of birds of prey.

Board a “Hogwarts Express” style steam-train for a journey through the countryside of Cheltenham. Later visit the old cathedral city of Gloucester, immortalised by Beatrix Potter in the third of her Peter Rabbit stories, the Tailor of Gloucester.

Stay overnight near Gloucester.
Day 3
Venture into the Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley, an area well known to J.K. Rowling, creator of Harry Potter. Visit her old family home and school and if the weather permits, take a walk in the forest – the setting for Firenze, the centaur to appear.

Cross the border into Wales to explore the battlements of the fairytale Chepstow Castle where you can really imagine yourself learning to fly a broomstick or playing a game of Quidditch.

Then visit the perfectly preserved medieval village of Lacock used extensively as a location in the Harry Potter films. The final stop of the day will be at the street used as the location for Privet Drive, where the Dursleys live.

At the end of the tour you will be returned to London. You will be dropped off at your centrally-located London Hotel at around 1900h (7pm).
