Alhambra Palace Tour

price US$64.07 (per person)

Introduction

The Alhambra is one of the world’s most beautiful collection of buildings and gardens and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Palace is made up of numerous beautiful courtyards, fountains and buildings that served as living quarters for the monarchs. The shady tree-lined walks, abundant streams and fountains are combined with extraordinary architecture and decorations.

The Alhambra is composed of three parts: The Royal Palace, The gardens of Generalife and the fortress of Alcazaba.

The inspiration for the gardens of Generalife is supposed to be the Koranic description of Paradise. The Patio of the Cypresses and the Walk of the Cascades are the highlights here.

The fortress of Alcazaba (the Citadel) is the oldest part of the Alhambra and consists of the impressive Torre de la Vela.

Entrance to the Alhambra is booked for 10am. Please be at the entrance of the Alhambra Palace at this time to meet your English-speaking guide. Your guide will meet you in front of the ticket booths, situated next to the display of the large map of the Alhambra .

The guided tours are offered in various languages. English and German are guaranteed. Several other languages are available. When you make your booking please state your language of preference. The tour gives you the opportunity to photograph the delicate carvings and stunning decorations reflected in the water features, found around every corner.

The local guide will bring the complex to life and transport you to the magical world of the Arabian Nights. Take in the scent of plants and the sounds of trickling water in the cool oasis of the gardens, which makes for great photos with the Sierra Nevada Mountains as a backdrop.

The Alhambra is composed of three parts: The Royal Palace, The gardens of Generalife and the fortress of Alcazaba.

The Royal Palace, the most famous building in the complex, consists of the Mexuar – enclosing the striking Golden Room - where the sultans conducted every day business. The Serallo, which served as a reception area and its very attractive Patio of Myrtles and its view of the Comares Tower, and the intriguing Lions' Court. The Hall of the Ambassadors is the largest and finest room in the palace where King Fernando discussed Columbus’ attempt to find the sea route to India.

Stroll through the spectacular Gardens of Generalife. This tour is a treat for gardeners; the designs are fantastic and the symmetrical Arab features have been copied around the world.

You can spend the rest of the day leisurely exploring the cosmopolitan city centre and the traditional Albaicín quarter.
